There is one topic that everyone has been talking about for the past year. Corona? Not at all. Much more exciting was the question of when and how drones and air cabs will conquer our airspace. From Airbus to Volocopter from Auterion to Quantum Systems. Many manufacturers are working on the future of mobility. What unites them all. They need a safe concept and safe software and hardware products to manage the flight out of sight under the requirements of EASA and FAA. Because automated flying with and later without pilots requires a safe overall concept and, above all, safe functions that safely avoid collisions in flight and during landing. The best way to do this is to enable the aircraft to decide for itself how to react to unexpected disturbances and hazards.
Something that only a few on the market deliver to this extent. This is not the only reason why we see ourselves as one of the most important, if not the most important, provider of these functions in Germany in Europe. Even if 2021 is a difficult year for the aviation industry, the trend is clearly going in one direction. Safe automated flights out of sight for a wide variety of application scenarios and missions.
Through our work with safe algorithms especially and above all in the field of artificial intelligence, we are making a decisive contribution to the success of this technology. This is proven by the successful work of the last year together with our partners. Therefore, we would like to give a selected overview of the last twelve months at this point and acknowledge our partners as well as the different projects and cooperations.
One of the biggest highlights beforehand was certainly the IST World Congress 2021 in Hamburg. Not only because it was possible to exhibit here for the first time again in front of and with the public, but also because we were able to successfully carry out the first fully automated AI-supported inspection flight in the port of Hamburg here in front of the world public. All of this in the context of various world premieres, such as the first VoloDrone flight by Volocopter. All this happened within the framework of the KOJAK funding project together with TUHH Hamburg and with the support of Auterion and Droniq.
But these were by far not the only successful flights this year. Not only were we able to expand our collaboration with our partner Quantum Systems and showcase our capabilities at their in-house event, but we also began laying the groundwork for certification of our technology to EASA and FAA standards through the funded project KI4Flight together with DLR and associated partner Volocopter. Again, working with AI algorithms, new milestones will be set in the development of fully automated and senor-based flight. First mover or cutting edge are two buzzwords that could not be more apt for the work we are doing here together with our partners and customers. In addition to the Digital Greentech Festival in Berlin, where we co-hosted a workshop on Urban Air Mobility with Hyundai Urban Air Mobility and our partner SkyRoads (formerly D3 Technologies) and the Windrove network from Hamburg, we exhibited at the European Rotors in Cologne, where we were able to win new partners, customers and collaborations.

CORONA KANN UNSEREN FLUG NICHT BREMSEN – UNSER JAHR 2021
Es gibt ein Thema über das alle das letzte Jahr geredet haben. Corona? Mit nichten. Viel spannender war die Frage, wann und wie werden Drohnen und Air Taxis unseren Luftraum erobern. Von Airbus bis Volocopter von Auterion bis Quantum Systems. Viele Hersteller arbeiten an der Zukunft der Mobilität. Was alle vereint. Sie benötigen ein sicheres Konzept und sichere Soft- und Hardwareprodukte um den Flug außerhalb der Sicht unter den Auflagen der EASA und FAA zu bewerkstelligen. Denn automatisiertes Fliegen mit und später auch ohne Piloten benötigt ein sicheres Gesamtkonzept und vor allem sichere Funktion, die Kollisionen im Flug und während der Landung sicher vermeiden. Am besten in dem sie das Fluggerät in die Lage versetzen selbst zu entscheiden, wie es auf unerwartet Störungen und Gefahren reagiert.
Etwas das in diesem Umfang nur wenige am Markt liefern. Nicht nur aus diesem Grund sehen wir uns als einer der wichtigsten, wenn nicht der wichtigste Anbieter dieser Funktionen in Deutschland in Europa. Auch wenn 2021 ein schwieriges Jahr für die Luftfahrtindustrie, geht der Trend klar in eine Richtung. Sichere automatisierte Flüge außerhalb der Sicht für verschiedenste Anwendungsszenarien und Missionen.
Durch unsere Arbeit mit sicheren Algorithmen gerade und vor allem im Bereich der künstlichen Intelligenz leisten wir einen entscheidenden Beitrag zum Erfolg dieser Technologie. Das beweist die erfolgreiche Arbeit des letzten Jahres gemeinsam mit unseren Partnern. Deshalb wollen wir an dieser Stelle einen ausgewählten Überblick über die letzten zwölf Monate geben und unsere Partner ebenso würdigen, wie die unterschiedlichen Projekte und Kooperationen.
Eines der größten Highlights vorweg war sicher der IST World Congress 2021 in Hamburg. Nicht nur, weil hier erstmals wieder vor und mit Publikum ausgestellt werden konnte, sondern weil wir hier den ersten vollautomatisierten KI-gestützten Inspektionsflug im Hafen von Hamburg vor der Weltöffentlichkeit erfolgreich durchführen konnten. Das alle im Kreis verschiedener Weltpremieren, wie z.B. dem ersten VoloDrone Flug von Volocopter. Das alles ist geschehen im Rahmen des Förderprojektes KOJAK gemeinsam mit der TUHH Hamburg und mit der Unterstützung von Auterion und Droniq.
Doch das waren bei weitem nicht die einzigen erfolgreichen Flüge in diesem Jahr. So konnten wir nicht nur die Zusammenarbeit mit unserem Partner Quantum Systems ausbauen und auf deren hauseigenen Event unsere Fähigkeiten präsentieren, sondern haben über das Förderprojekt KI4Flight gemeinsam mit dem DLR und dem assoziierten Partner Volocopter damit begonnen die Grundlagen der Zertifizierung unserer Technologie nach EASA und FAA Standards zu setzen. Auch hier werden in der Arbeit mit KI-Algorithmen neue Meilensteine in der Entwicklung des vollautomatisierten und senorbasierten Fliegens gesetzt werden. First Mover oder Cutting Edge sind zwei Schlagwörter, die nicht treffender sein könnten, für die Arbeit, die wir hier gemeinsam mit unseren Partnern und Kunden leisten. Neben dem Digital Greentech Festival in Berlin, wo wir gemeinsam mit Hyundai Urban Air Mobility und unserem Partner SkyRoads (früher D3 Technologies) und dem Windrove Netzwerk aus Hamburg einen Workshop zu Urban Air Mobility gehostet haben, waren wir auf der European Rotors in Köln als Aussteller vertreten, wo wir neue Partner, Kunden und Kooperationen gewinnen konnten.
