Press Release: Central German safety focused AI startup continues expansion

English Version:

Despite the difficult market situation, Spleenlab closes 2023 extremely successfully. The number of prominent customers doubled, a significant increase in sales was recorded and, thanks to 14 new hires, almost 36 employees now work at the sites in Saalburg-Ebersdorf and Jena.

For the US company DroneUp, for example, Spleenlab’s software for autonomous precision landings provides the crucial AI building block for fully automated delivery by drone from the logistics center to the customer. In collaboration with the German drone manufacturer Quantum Systems, a revolutionary AI technology was brought to series maturity, which for the first time worldwide enables navigation during autonomous flight entirely without a GPS signal.

Other well-known customers include Volocopter, Valeo, Aerialloop, the largest airline for drone deliveries in South America, the Diehl Group and Deutsche Bahn. In the automotive sector, Spleenlab supplies one of the world’s leading companies for driverless driving and a market-dominating OEM for self-driving trucks in the USA with indispensable safety technology.

A concept for assisted driving was successfully implemented with Audi AG. This integration marks only the first milestone and opens up a completely new dimension of possible applications for safe, highly automated and assisted driving through the use of VISIONAIRY® AI software. In addition, the Asian region was served as a market for the VISIONAIRY® AI software for the first time with Intempora and dSpace as renowned technology providers and partners.

This makes Spleenlab one of the most innovative, fast-growing tech start-ups in Central Germany. The location of Jena, with its outstanding university landscape, many research institutions and the technology companies based there, is of particular importance.

In several TV reports, ARD and MDR reported on the Federal Digital Summit taking place in November 2023, where the State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport, Daniela Kluckert, was able to get to know the pioneering solutions for autonomous mobility during a tour of Jena in the Spleenlab demo bus.
In December 2023, Spleenlab closed a new financing round in the mid 7-digit range. The largest investors include GIWA Holding GmbH & Co. KGaA and bm|t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen GmbH, an investment company of the Free State of Thuringia that finances innovative and growth-oriented companies with future potential.

The investment focuses on the expansion of development and sales as well as a stronger international orientation. An equally central point is the expansion of the product portfolio of the innovative VISIONAIRY® AI software, which delivers groundbreaking robotics applications for the autonomous operation of drones, vehicles or trucks, for example. Spleenlab is looking for committed and motivated talents in the field of software and robotics engineering to continue its growth course.

Spleenlab will continue its successful development with high momentum in 2024. By participating in national and international trade fairs and expanding its marketing activities, the company aims to address new target groups and acquire new customers.
